John Mascheroni “Tubo” Aluminum Coffee Table, Circa 1967
Description
Hand signed and dated John Mascheroni “Tubo” Aluminum Coffee Table with original smoked glass top that rests within the frame. Acquired from the estate of Grace Mirabella, who was editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine between 1971 and 1988.
Best known for his use of luxurious materials like chrome, Lucite, and glass, Mascheroni's furniture evokes a playful sophistication that defined the 1970s and 1980s. The Tubo is famous for having zero visible joinery lines and its design was so revolutionary that it was acquired by the museum of modern art for their permanent collection in the same year it was released.
